The perfect shirt - What to look for?

Collar Size

To figure out the collar size of your shirt, simply measure the circumference of your neck loosely. Take the measurement by where your collar would usually sit, allowing a small space for comfort.

Alternatively, take one of your own business shirts that you feel has a comfortable collar size then simply lay it out flat and measure the distance between the middle of the button hole and the middle of the button on the inside (the part next to your skin) of the collar.

Have you already got a collar that fits you perfectly? Try laying the collar out flat and measuring it for your size. Measure between the middle of the button hole and the middle of the inside button, and you should have your perfect size.

Chest Size

To get the chest size for your shirt, measure horizontally around your chest. Take the measurement from the widest part of your chest. It might help to do this in front of a mirror, as to get the perfect measurement you will need to keep the measure straight.

Sleeve Length

Similar to finding your collar size, your can either get your sleeve length by measuring your arm or an existing shirt. If you take the measurement directly from your body, you will need some help.

To get your sleeve length by standing, start measuring from the centre of your shoulder, just past your wrist. Your measurement will be more accurate should you keep your arm straight.

To get your sleeve length from a shirt you already have, measure the length of a well fitting shirt from the centre of the shoulder to the bottom of the cuff. Make you're your shirt is flat so you get the most accurate measurement.

Your shirt may shrink slightly after washing, so do allow for a centimetre or half an inch extra when you are taking your sleeve measurement.
